Optical Communication & Optical Module Interface Shielding Gasket


Traditional sheet metal cover type optical modules use sheet metal covers, bases and pressing blocks to fix TOSA and ROSA, which is very simple. However, the long and thin gaps between the common pressing blocks and the sheet metal covers will cause abnormal noises and make the optical modules unable to shield the electromagnetic waves for the optical module interfaces. Generally, in such fixed mode, if the performance of the optical interfaces cannot meet the requirements, conductive soft materials such as conductive fabric or conductive rubber strip will be pasted between the press blocks and the sheet metal covers to overcome such defects. Although the EMI performance of the optical module can be enhanced, it will lead to complex assembly, side compression and easy damage, and greatly increase the material costs. The shielding gasket is designed to provide an electromagnetic shielding structure for the optical interface of the optical module. By setting fingerstock assemblies on the sheet metal covers, the long and thin gaps between the sheet metal covers and the pressing blocks can be eliminated and good contact with the sheet metal covers can be realized to effectively improve the electromagnetic shielding performance of the optical module interfaces.
